Module Outline

This module provides hands-on knowledge about work-related skills, transferable skills, and the requirements for success in the workplace. Activities are designed to assist you in exploring your career paths and establishing individual career plans. Students are expected to exercise team work, communicate with others in a professional manner and working towards deadlines.

The skills and experience in seeking a appropriate job, CV preparation, interview process, developing positive attitude and confidence.

Practical activities and working experience :

  • Students will have some corporate visit in several industries, managers and specialist interview.
  • Students are encouraged to complete an internship (paid or unpaid) around  80hours (2 weeks). This may be in blocks or on individual week days as per your arrangement with the employer so that you do not miss attending the other taught modules.
  • Students will meet in class to discuss their findings about the workplace requirements, perform a skill gap analysis and revise your career plan

Learning And Teaching Strategy :

 

This module contributes to the enhancement of the University’s teaching & learning strategy, placing you as students at the centre of learning activities and will use technology appropriately to support your learning and assessment. There will be an emphasis in assignment design to encourage “assessment for learning” and to promote formative assessment mechanisms and timely feedback. The assessment processes are integral to learning and staff will actively promote your engagement, progress and achievement, through a range of flexible learning approaches that give added value to the learning experience.

Summative Assessment Strategy

 

There are two pieces of summative assessment for this module.

  1. The first summative assessment takes in the several form such as: group presentation, CV preparation, demo – interview, career planning.  
  2. An report ( 2000 - 3000 words) about one company, it’s business issues and problem solving base on student‘s own opinion.
